Stage 2: Deepen
The Deepen stage consists of two, full-day interactive workshops with senior school leaders. Here, we deepen understanding of any barriers identified in the Discover stage, and psychological techniques and initiatives that can reduce those barriers. We then work with you to develop specific actions that your school can do to support your students, and integrate these into a draft action plan.
Having the right people in the room for a full day, in a spirit of open discussion, offers a possibly rare opportunity to examine in depth some of the school’s longest standing and most difficult issues in the round and to generate a new sense of purpose.
We first provide a grounding in how social psychological processes can be barriers to the attendance, behaviour, and attainment of some groups of students, and how initiatives and brief interventions that target these barriers can improve these outcomes.
Then, in a highly interactive session, we use our newly aquired knowledge to generated actions and initiatives that you school can do to remove barriers and increase inclusion and belonging among your students. We begin to put these into a concrete action plan to help your school deliver and evaluate these actions.
